26 Before 26: Recap

Okay, so it’s been an official birthday year! Last year, I started (for the very first time) a list of 26 Before 26. It has been an incredible journey and I have definitely done a lot. I’m very excited about it and I am definitely going to make it something that I can continue to do… until it gets a little ridiculous. So, I’ve decided to take this post to review everything that I accomplished and… those I didn’t. While not everything on the list was accomplished, it was my first go and I’m still very excited about those that … Continue reading 26 Before 26: Recap

Grace In Small Things

Hello everyone! This is going to be one of the last posts that I do with Grace In Small Things because my birthday is rapidly approaching and this all started with my list. So, this is going to be the five great things about doing Grace In Small Things. 1 – Positive Thinking. I’m not one to be an optimist. But having to really stop and think about the great things was really hard some weeks. Especially the first few weeks of it. Everything seemed to be rather ordinary and mundane. But after looking a little closer, I saw that … Continue reading Grace In Small Things

Swimming (#12)

Number twelve on my list is to do swimming. Now, I know what you may be thinking, “Doesn’t everyone know how to swim?” and your answer would be “no”. There’s a reason why people drown. I wanted to do swimming because I wanted to incorporate it in to my exercise routine. But you have to know how to swim properly as well as know the other strokes to really give yourself something to work on. Sure you can swim freestyle up and down the pool but wouldn’t you get tired of doing the same thing? I know I would but … Continue reading Swimming (#12)

Jalapeno Poppers (#19)

As I’m sure you’re already familiar with my list, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of #19: Jalapeno Poppers. I know, I know, it sounds easy but you have to realize that I’m an awful cook. Like… awful… it’s horrible how bad I am I’m sure the older generations would be ashamed of me. But! I did try it! Unfortunately, I took the photos on my phone and then my phone SD card broke so, I lost the photos! Sucks, right?! The RARE TIME that I cook and my evidence is destroyed! I found the recipe here and I … Continue reading Jalapeno Poppers (#19)

Animal Farm/1984 (#9)

If you check out my list, you’ll see #9 as both 1984 and Animal Farm. It’s hard to believe I haven’t read some of these books on my list being an English major but somehow these slipped through the cracks. I combined both of these as one unit because Animal Farm is a rather short book and is by the same author so, I figured I could just clump them in and they’ll count as one. I really enjoyed both of these books. I read Animal Farm in all of one day and had 1984 done in about 3 days. The were … Continue reading Animal Farm/1984 (#9)

Lord of the Flies (#14)

Number four on my list is to read Lord of the Flies. The reason this book made the list was because of it being a classic. I’m all about catching up on the classics that I’ve missed while growing up. The book is a quick, short read and it definitely is very symbolic in the sense of who/what we are as humans. We, as humans, are capable of anything. We can adapt, grow, change, learn, and alter pretty much anything and everything about ourselves. We have the advanced capabilities to do more than most animals in the animal kingdom. Granted, we might not always be … Continue reading Lord of the Flies (#14)

Here’s Looking at You, Kid (#6)

On my list is to watch Casablanca. This is a classic movie that I’ve heard quoted time and time again yet I had never seen it. I didn’t even know what it was about! I just knew the catch phrases and knew that it was a famous movie. Period. My mom got it for me once as a gift and I always wanted to watch it but, for whatever reason, never quite got around to it. Well, I put it on my list to make the time. What upsets me the most is that I didn’t watch it sooner! I … Continue reading Here’s Looking at You, Kid (#6)

Achieve Goal Weight (#15)

On my list, there stands number 15, to achieve my goal weight. I was very fortunate enough to have accomplished this goal in the time that I gave myself. I am so very glad that I chose to do this because there was a lot – and I mean A LOT – that I learned along the way. First off, I’m not going to announce what number it is that I have reached, that’s not entirely important. But, I will say that I legitimately reached it. In fact, I was under the goal weight (not by much, about .5lb but … Continue reading Achieve Goal Weight (#15)

Fruit Pizza, #26

On my list, is Fruit Pizza. The recipe was found here. I’m not going to lie, when the finished product was sitting before me… I was in awe. It looked amazing. I’m not one to toot my own horn, but seriously – toot! toot! This turned out beyond fantastic! It tasted… oh! I don’t even know. It was delectable, mouth-watering, heavenly… I mean, I could go on and on! I would recommend this 1,000,000% for anything. It’s great for 4th of July (which I know has passed but still), it’s good for family reunions, weddings, birthdays, etc. It’s the perfect … Continue reading Fruit Pizza, #26

Catch-22 (#25)

As part of My List, I listed to read Catch-22. As an English major, you would think that I would have already read this at some point. Somewhere along the lines, I didn’t. I don’t know why. Maybe I took all the wrong courses, I’m not sure. But I wanted to read this book because it is such an important book. Everyone seems to know it and it’s considered a great classic by the English pundits. The book is on the longer side, it’s about 450 pages long. It’s very character driven. I will definitely say that. Most of the … Continue reading Catch-22 (#25)
