Practice Makes… Things Worse

This is just pure speculation because I don’t really know the truth or reality of it. But let me give you a scenario: Think of one of your favorite bands or music artists. Don’t let it be someone that just broke the scene, either. This band/artist needs to have been around for a while. Got one? Great. I have a particular artist that I absolutely love. I have all of her cd’s (some are pure electronic, others I have the actual disc) and I really enjoy her music, personality, ideas, etc. Her first album was phenomenal. I know every song, … Continue reading Practice Makes… Things Worse

Technology is Our World

We live in a technologically saturated society. People need to come to understand the reality of this. I do not understand, how there are people who have jobs in this day and age, and have absolutely NO IDEA on how to open a program, save a document, or send an email. Now, I’m not -by any means- an expert at Microsoft Word or Excel. But I can get myself around pretty well. Enough so that I can do most, if not all, of the demands needed on the job. I have come across people who are older, and not only … Continue reading Technology is Our World

The Perfect Friend

Why is everyone else allowed to have an opinion but me? People will start a conversation with me talking about whatever it is they want to, and they will share their opinion on whatever is going on. Now, 9 times out of 10, I disagree with them. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I ‘disagree’ with them, perhaps, I just have a different perspective. And it’s not because I’m trying to be difficult or give them a hard time, I just see things differently. I do try to be as diplomatic as possible … Continue reading The Perfect Friend

We Are the Masses!

We have more power than I think we know. Or perhaps we do know, we’re just too lazy to do anything about it. I’m leaning more towards the latter. But I think that if we really want things to change, the power lies 100% in our hands. You might not think so, but must I remind you that WE ARE THE MASSES? We out number every department in Congress combined…times ten. So I think we should practice first on something small. Like the Kardashians. We –as the masses- decide her popularity. If you have people stop buying their products, watching … Continue reading We Are the Masses!

Defending the Other Side

We all know that when someone is convicted of a crime, there is a plaintiff and defendant. Usually when we hear about the story, we automatically pick a side. He’s guilty! He’s innocent! Let’s work out a scenario. The shooting of Michael Brown. It’s been a year, and people are still quite sensitive about the subject, so I’m going to tread as lightly as I can. Let’s refresh everyone’s memory. Basically, in a nutshell, a white officer (Wilson) was accused of shooting and killing an innocent, unarmed black man (Brown). Everyone has their side. He should be charged with murder! … Continue reading Defending the Other Side

Tornado Watch

There’s a person who is a tornado. She comes in, stomping, throws her purse and bags on her desk, landing with a large crash. She sits down, and somehow the chair creaks and rattles with her. She sighs and it echoes through the whole office. She opens a paper bag, crinkling and snapping as she pulls out whatever she is eating. The can of soda snaps and pops open. Ever her phone ringtone is loud enough to be heard 12 cubicles down. Her natural speaking tone is at the same decibel of a teenage girl at a One Direction concert. … Continue reading Tornado Watch

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, and Nation of Drama

Our “News” stations aren’t exactly talking about “News” anymore. I’m sure this has become obvious to a lot of people a long time ago, but I have recently come across the news every now and then, and I must say… it’s just disappointing. “News” sites aren’t exactly doing any better either. I have gone to many “news” sites, and have basically seen altered visions of the truth. There news basically just tells people what to think. And it’s always something dramatic that fits whatever theory they are after at that time. For example, the Germanwings co-pilot. No one knows why … Continue reading Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, and Nation of Drama

Adult Children

I always hear people on the radio, or television talking about how we need to stop bullying. There are commercials for it, and ads, and everything else. They want to stop it, because a lot of younger adults are committing suicide. This issue has now become something we should stop. Are people aware that it NEVER stops? That even as adults, we bully each other? A few years back, I started a new job, and for 4 days, we talked about bullying and how to NOT bully people. Seriously?! Even as adults we can’t get our shit together?! I thought … Continue reading Adult Children

Giving Up on the Dream

I have been searching desperately for employment, and it is depressing in more ways than one. I graduated college in 2009 with an English degree. I tried really hard to find a place that would allow me to build upon my skills. Whether it was in marketing, communications, or advertising, I didn’t care. I just wanted to use my skills and build upon them. But as the years went on, I wasn’t able to find a job in my field. I was fresh out of college – with no life experience – and the world was in the middle of … Continue reading Giving Up on the Dream

Why I Would Make a Terrible Teacher

I was assigned a new employee for a few hours to give him a feel for what he would be doing now he is on the job. It was at this point I realized I would make a terrible teacher. I never wanted to teach. Ever. When I went into English, everyone assumed that was what I wanted to do – or was going to do. No. Nope. Never. Once upon a time, I was a new employee. The trainer I had was a nice girl. A lot younger than me. She made the job seem like it was this … Continue reading Why I Would Make a Terrible Teacher
