Collector of Stories

If you ever really think about it, we are collectors of stories. We are told stories and we create stories to tell. We had a new employee start recently and I basically asked him to tell me his story. We had a few discussions on topics and he shared some of his stories. I, in turn, come home and tell my husband about him and his stories. And in the future (whenever that may be), my husband might reference a man his wife works with and his stories. Our blogs are our daily stories. Those who come here will learn … Continue reading Collector of Stories

The Memories Kill Me

I don’t remember what the conversation was about, but it triggered a memory. And then I began to really think about my life. When we are born, we don’t really start having memories until around the age of 4 or so. From then on, we sort of build our own little scrapbook of memories. Some good and some bad. Eventually, you start to fill up your book. It just dawned on me not too long ago, that I have quite a few memories in my book. And when I stopped and thought about it, I realized that while I was … Continue reading The Memories Kill Me

Fly a Kite (#1)

I was walking into my apartment building one day, and there was an elderly gentleman sitting on the chair in the front area. He had something in his hands that I couldn’t see. As I approached him, he started talking with me. What he had was a sort of reel. When I asked what it was for, he said, “To fly a kite.” And thus borne was this idea. I had immediately put it on my list. When I was out and about, I managed to find a kite that was…….. cheap. I’m not going to lie, I don’t know … Continue reading Fly a Kite (#1)

Potato Chips and Grandma

Every time I have ruffled cheddar chips, or ruffled sour cream and potato chips, I think of my grandma. When I was younger, my grandma had to babysit both myself and my brother. She always had these two types of chips. She never had plain, un-ruffled chips. And she always had empty cool whip containers, or empty butter containers. When we went to her place, we usually got a plastic bowl full of chips, and we went to watch television. Come to think of it, we were pretty easy to babysit. This was back in the day when TGIF was … Continue reading Potato Chips and Grandma

When is ‘Long Enough’?

I was at work the other day, and someone must have said something to trigger a memory of mine. It made me think of someone. I haven’t thought of him in a while. He was… is someone so special. When I first met him, he was 7. He was cute as a button, and as wild as any 7 year old boy would be. He had so much energy & happiness. To hear him laugh instantly made you laugh as well. I don’t know how he did it, but he managed to have good manners. He was surprisingly well-behaved also. … Continue reading When is ‘Long Enough’?

What Everyone Wants to Know

I’m reading a book that is on my birthday list, and as I’m about half way through it, I think, “I wonder how this ends.” And then I began to think, that’s the one thing everyone wants to know. “How does the book end?” “How does the movie end?” It’s the most criticized part of everything. “I hate how it ended.” “The ending sort of left you hanging.” No one really wants to know how things all began, they want to know how it ends. You would think people would be interested in the beginning. Do you want to know … Continue reading What Everyone Wants to Know

Throwback: The Duck

Every time John and I make our way down to the point, we remember The Duck. If you weren’t there to see it, I’m really sorry, but you can look at our nice pics! I know it might sound stupid to see a giant inflated Duck, but let me tell you… it was fun! The whole idea behind the duck was to bring people together through everything we share – a childhood. The duck was to resemble our youth and the current youth and the future youth. We all know about the floating ducky in our bathtubs, and this was … Continue reading Throwback: The Duck

Same Story, Different Version

When I read this, I was absolutely stunned. For so long, I’ve had this thought, I’ve just never been able to put it into words. There have been so many times and instances when I thought I saw someone I knew. In reality, it was someone else, but to me, they were the person I knew from somewhere else. There is someone right now who reminds me of someone else. But in a good way. I feel like they are still a part of my life even though they might not be with me right this second. It sort of … Continue reading Same Story, Different Version

Stalemate

There are a couple of friendships that both my fiancee and I are in that are….gridlocked. I have had numerous conversations with both him and other friends on ways to do something about this stalemate. Here’s the situation, you can determine for yourselves the solutions. My fiancee has a friend that he has known for years. They are on good terms; always got along. So, one day, this friend starts texting John (my fiancee), and says, “We should hang out sometime.” John replies, “Yea, sure.” – End situation – If anyone is having difficulty decoding this, let me explain. Both … Continue reading Stalemate

Most Memorable Valentine’s Day

There is one Valentine’s Day that I will always remember, and hold dear to my heart. It was back in… 2005… HOLY SHIT! This was THAT LONG AGO??!! I was 18! I’ve remembered this for almost a decade now… God, do I feel old. Anyway, back in 2005 (sobs), my girlfriend (Chica) and I, didn’t have Valentine’s dates. But, we didn’t want to just sit at home, and feel bummed about it. So, we decided to go out and have a date of our own. I’m pretty sure we ate somewhere, I’m thinking Eat N’ Park, but I’m not sure. … Continue reading Most Memorable Valentine’s Day
